Introduction
History
Since the promulgation of the Foreign Investment Law at the end of 1987, Vietnam has officially entered a new era of market opening. Faced with an investment environment that was completely unfamiliar and full of uncertain factors, Taiwanese businessmen bravely moved into this land one after another and opened up new territories to carry out trade and investment business activities. After nearly twenty years. From a completely closed market, Vietnam has gradually embraced the world market, incorporated into the international division of labor system, and become an indispensable part of the world economic production system. The operations of Taiwanese businessmen in Vietnam have also increased year by year, with investment funds reaching record highs. Among Vietnam’s economic groups, they have become the “new Chinese businessmen” in the new era.
In June 1994, with the efforts of all parties, Taiwanese business organizations established the “Taiwanese Businessmen Association in Southern Vietnam” and the “Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Northern Vietnam”. The chaotic casual gathering of Taiwanese businessmen activities was officially transformed into a Taiwanese businessman organization with charters and regulations. The purpose of the association is not only to promote the exchange of investment and management experience among Taiwanese businessmen, but also to actively participate in Vietnam’s industrial and commercial activities and strive to become a part of the driving force for Vietnam’s social and economic advancement.
In 1994, the Northern and Southern Associations jointly participated in the founding meeting of the “World Federation of Taiwan Chambers of Commerce”. The “Vietnam Taiwan Federation of Chambers of Commerce” was merged to serve as a window representing Vietnam. Through the activities of the World Chamber of Commerce, we introduce Vietnam’s investment environment to Taiwanese businessmen living around the world, and actively assist the Vietnamese government in attracting foreign investment.
In October 1997, the Chamber was officially granted a chamber of commerce license by the Vietnamese government. Due to the rapid growth of members of the Chamber of Commerce, in order to expand participation and services, the Chamber of Commerce decided to establish regional branches in various regions to provide comprehensive and effective services nearby. In 1997, branches were established across the country. The development of the conference has also followed the continuous growth of Vietnam’s social economy. Branches have spread across major regions in Vietnam. So far, 14 regional branches and three professional fraternities have been established and incorporated into the organizational structure of the federation. They are: Hanoi Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Hai Phong Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Da Nang Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Dong Nai Province Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Binh Duong Province Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Vung Tau Branch, Tan Thuan District Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Ho Chi Minh City Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Lam Dong Province Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Long An Province Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Tay Ninh Province Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Taiping Branch, Bac Ninh Branch, Ha Tinh Branch.
The Southern Vietnam Taiwanese Business Association (the predecessor of the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Ho Chi Minh City) was established in 1994. It was established by a group of early Taiwanese businessmen who came to Vietnam with the assistance of the Ho Chi Minh City Office and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission, and was headed by the then general manager of Saigon Baoya Company. Mr. Lin Zhengrong served as the founding president. In 1998, he applied to obtain the license of the Vietnam-Taiwan Chamber of Commerce Federation and Mr. Lu Chunlin served as the founding president.
