World Taiwanese Chambers Of Commerce

History and purpose

In view of the fact that Taiwanese businessmen living overseas are working hard in various countries around the world, although some regions have formed chambers of commerce, in most areas Taiwanese businessmen still work alone, their strength is scattered, and business opportunities cannot be connected; in order to promote the development of overseas Taiwanese businessmen, first of all, in Taiwan Chamber of Commerce organizations were established in various regions around the world, and then intercontinental federations were established in North America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Central and South America, and Oceania, and then formed a worldwide federation.

Thanks to the hard work of many senior overseas Taiwanese businessmen, the North American, Asian, European, and African federations were successively established. In September 1994, an inaugural meeting was held in Taipei City, and the World Federation of Taiwan Chambers of Commerce was officially established. Then the Taiwan Federation of Chambers of Commerce in Central and South America was established in August 1995 and joined the World Federation in September 1995. The Federation of Oceania was established in 1998 and joined the World Federation. So far, the World Federation of Taiwan Chambers of Commerce has fully fulfilled its name. In fact, the association covers Taiwanese businessmen from all over the world. Through the sacrifice and dedication of the past presidents, the conference has been carried out smoothly, the membership has been increasing day by day, the economic and social strength has been expanded, and it has been integrated with the local mainstream society. It is a world-wide civil society that is most valued by all walks of life at home and abroad.

The purpose of this association

  1. Promote cooperation among Taiwanese businessmen from various regions around the world, seek common development of industry and commerce, and explore international markets.
  2. Strengthen connections, mutual assistance and friendship among Taiwanese businessmen from around the world, and exchange experience in business administration, academic science and technology.
  3. Provide various industrial, commercial and financial information to Taiwanese businessmen from around the world, thereby strengthening regional economic and trade cooperation.
  4. Enhance the international status of Taiwanese businessmen and promote the protection of the rights and interests of Taiwanese businessmen in various countries.
  5. Promote social and cultural exchanges in various regions of the world to enhance common understanding and economic development.

Since our members have all lived overseas for many years, they have actively participated in local mainstream social activities and established good relations with local mainstream society. Since its establishment, the Association has worked hard to implement its founding purpose, seek the greatest welfare for its members, and establish a partnership with the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to help expand national diplomacy in various countries of residence; promote economic and trade relations between Taiwan and the countries of residence, and enhance Taiwan’s international visibility; and in line with national policies, members are encouraged to actively invest in Taiwan, participate in national construction and social welfare, care for the disadvantaged in society, and give back to their hometown with actions.

Organizations and meetings

1.Administration

There are six intercontinental federations under the World Federation of Taiwan Chambers of Commerce, currently distributed in 71 countries and regions, 176 regional chambers of commerce, and more than 40,000 member manufacturers. The General Conference has a president who serves a one-year term and cannot be re-elected; the president of each continental conference shall be the ex-officio vice-president. The association also has a fixed office in Taipei, employing full-time staff to handle daily conference affairs and serve Taiwanese businessmen around the world. In order to expand its service functions, a permanent clubhouse was purchased in Taipei City, Republic of China (Taiwan) in September 2009 and was officially opened on January 16, 2010, marking a new milestone for the World Federation of Taiwan Chambers of Commerce. In addition, the president appointed voluntary secretary-generals and treasurers in accordance with the articles of association to assist in handling conference affairs, and established 15 committees based on business functions. A working committee, under the straight-line liaison structure of the Federation, promotes horizontal connections and strengthens organizational functions. In recent years, it has actively guided various continental federations to establish youth chambers of commerce and encouraged the younger generation of Taiwanese businessmen to join the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce. On October 3, 2010, the Youth Chamber of Commerce of the World Federation of Taiwan Chambers of Commerce was established in Taipei City, which will contribute to the establishment of the World Taiwan Chamber of Commerce. 2. Council

The World Federation of Taiwan Chambers of Commerce has:

(1)Standing Council: It is composed of the president, honorary president and presidents of the six continents.

(2)Board of Directors: 20 directors are elected from each of the six continents, plus ex-officio directors. Joint meetings of directors and supervisors are held three times a year. In order to respect the members who have held important positions in the association in the past, the association has specially stipulated in the articles of association that those who meet the qualifications stipulated in the articles of association can be appointed as honorary president, honorary chief supervisor, advisory committee member and senior consultant respectively. , consultants, are all ex-officio directors, etc. This is the characteristic of this association.

3. Supervisory board

50 nominated by each of the six continents It is composed of people serving as member representatives, plus ex-officio member representatives, and holds a meeting every year. All members above the director level of this association are ex officio representatives. The number of attendees at the annual joint meeting of directors and supervisors and the general meeting of members of the Association has increased year by year to more than 1,000 people, and the scale is expanding day by day.

 4. Member Congress
